How to Record a Video for Analysis

The quality of your videos shapes the quality of your results. The app includes in-app video guides to walk you through the recording, and this checklist covers the essentials so the analysis can see you clearly.

Your recording checklist

  • Surface. Run on a flat road or a regular treadmill. Avoid curved treadmills, which aren't suitable for the assessment.
  • Framing. Keep your whole body visible in the frame, from head to feet. You'll record one video from the side and one from behind.
  • Lighting. Choose a bright, evenly lit spot so your body stands out clearly.
  • Steady camera. Prop your phone up or have someone hold it still. A steady camera makes tracking much easier.

Two videos per assessment

Each assessment needs two videos: one from the side and one from behind. Both are needed for a complete analysis of your running form.

What the app checks

When you add a video, the app checks only the file type and size — it must be a .mp4 or .mov file, up to 100 MB. Everything else, including camera speed, video length, and overall quality, follows the recording guidance rather than an automatic check. That's why it's worth following the in-app guides and this checklist closely: they're what keep your results accurate.

Once your videos are ready, see How to Submit a Video for Analysis.
